The Department of Microbiology Parasitology and Immunology offers training in Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Entomology, Immunology and Molecular biology to undergraduate students in the following degree programmes:-

The Department of Veterinary Microbiology & Parasitology has 14 academic staff (8 PhD, 2 MSc and 4 Bachelor degree holders).The Department offers training in Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Entomology, Immunology and Molecular biology to undergraduate students in the following degree programmes:-

Veterinary Medicine, Animal science, Aquaculture, Wildlife management, Range management, Environmental Science and Management. This Department hosts the Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences degree programme. Furthermore, the Department offers three postgraduate degree programmes:- MSc Applied Microbiology, MSc Parasitology and MSc Molecular biology and Biotechnology. Members of the department also give lectures to MSc wildlife, MVM and MPVM degree programmes, which are hosted by other departments. The Department offers PhD training in various areas of Microbiology, Parasitology and Molecular biology. The Department conducts research in various topics including helminthes, vector borne protozoan parasites, viruses, bacteria and fungi, which are important in animal health. Research and training on malaria is undertaken through collaboration with Seattle Biomedical Research Centre.
